FRSC operatives recover N8.6m after auto crash on Kaduna road

The Federal Road Safety Corps has recovered N8.62 million during a rescue operation following a road accident on the Zaria-Funtua Road in Kaduna State.
The corps spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide, said this in a statement on Tuesday.
The corps explained that the crash, which occurred around 7pm on September 30, involved a Nigerian Army Ford pickup truck and a speeding Toyota Corolla.
The Toyota Corolla, with number plate, KTN 316 HK, was allegedly speeding in violation of the legal limit when the driver lost control and collided with the Ford pickup, marked FST 134 FX.
Three people were said to be involved in the accident, with two sustaining injuries.
They were taken to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, for treatment, while the third victim escaped without injury.
During the rescue operation, the FRSC personnel found and recovered N8.62m from the scene.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, commended the rescue team’s swift response and professionalism in handling both the injured and the recovered money.
“The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, has applauded the rescue team of the corps who successfully recovered the sum of N8.6m during a rescue operation that was carried out at the scene of a road traffic crash in Kaduna State,” the statement said.
Mohammed noted that speed violations remained one of the leading causes of road crashes in Nigeria and urged motorists to adhere to speed limits.
