Genesis church suspends tithe, offerings over naira scarcity
The senior Apostle of the Genesis Global Church, Israel Oladele Ogundipe, has told his congregation to stop paying tithe and other offerings until further notice in the church.
An indigenous news platform, Asejere, reports that Ogundipe explained that the decision was made because of the ongoing suffering being experience by the residents of Nigeria.
Recall that it has become a herculean task to get fuel due to unexplained reasons, as well as get naira notes because of the Central Bank of Nigeria naira redesign programme in the past few weeks.
But Ogundipe, who spoke during his sermon on Sunday, added that when the crisis ended, the church members would pay the tithe and other offerings conveniently.
He said, “The church is a place of refuge. The church knows what Nigerians are facing presently, it should not add to their inconvenience.
“The church is like a home for the children of God and there should be comfort in the church. There can’t be hardship in the church.”
Genesis church advised its members to follow their pastor’s directive and be ready to pay all the necessary offerings as soon as the situation improved.
