Hamas commander who led last week attack killed by Israeli drone
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) says it has killed Ali Qadi, the Hamas commander who led the October 7 attacks during which over 1,400 Israelis were killed.
He was killed on Saturday in the ongoing war between Israel and Gaza
IDF said the 37-year-old unit commander in the elite Hamas force was killed in a drone strike based on intelligence inputs received by the Shin Bet security agency and Military Intelligence Directorate.
In a statement on X, IDF said, “Aircraft killed Ali Qadi, a company commander of the Hamas ‘Nukhba’ (elite) commando force.”
Israel and Hamas have been at intense war since last week.
Qadi was one of more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel in 2011 in exchange for a soldier, Gilad Shalit, captured by Hamas in 2006.
He was arrested by Israel in 2005 over the death of an Israeli broker for the Shin Bet internal security agency.
