HoS Agoro resumes, promises to prioritise workers’ welfare

The 22nd Head of Service, Lagos State Government, Mr Bode Agoro, officially assumed.
Recall that the immediate past Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, resigned and left the Lagos State Public Service on Friday, 29th September, 2023.
The new Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, when addressing the civil servants at the welcome ceremony being organised for his assumption in the office, thanked the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the opportunity given to him to serve in this capacity as the 22nd Head of Service.
He equally appreciated his predecessor, Muri-Okunola, for believing in him to be appointed Lagos State Head of Service.
He maintained that he would take welfare of the entire workforce serious and he will ensure that he forge ahead in ensuring that the Public Servants continue to benefit the dividend of being a civil servant.
“Welfare to me is two things, personal and professional, professional is constant training and re- training of staff, because if you do not train the civil service, who are the back bone of the government, you are creating something bad in the system.” he said.
He stressed further that during his tenure, he would emphasise strongly on the training, welfare and conducive working environment for all the civil servants in the state.
Agoro implored all the civil servants in the state to associate and relate very well with their respective Permanent Secretaries for any issues bothering them, adding that the Permanent Secretaries are compassionate and approachable at all times.
He admonished all the public servants not to rest on their oars by working hard to raise the bar.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs Sunkanmi Oyegbola congratulated Agoro, and thanked Muri-Okunola for his dedication and contributions to the progress of Lagos State.
She urged the entire Public Servants to work hand-in-hand with the new Head of Service.
