Investment in education is my most cherished legacy, says ex-Kano gov Kwankwaso
A former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has said the establishment of Northwest University, now Maitama Sule University, and Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil, now Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology are his “best and most cherished achievements as governor of Kano state.”
Kwankwaso, who is the National leader of New Nigeria People’s Party, made the remark on Monday in Kano at the inauguration of Ultramodern Auditorium named after him by Skyline University.
He said, “My best and cherished legacy while in office as governor of Kano State was my investment in education”.
The inauguration of the auditorium was part of activities to commemorate the 68th birthday of the NNPP national leader.
Kwankwaso, who turned 68 today (Monday) added, “My projects, including flyovers, roads, agricultural development, rural electrification among others, are not my best compared to the establishment of the two universities and other education projects”.
He said the State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf deserved to be commended for his steadfastness in keeping with the Kwankasiyya ideology which is education and human development.
In his remark at the occasion, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the university for its plan to train 1,000 teachers in computers in collaboration with the state government.
