JAMB reveals top 2025 UTME scorers, cut-of marks

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede on Tuesday, 8 July, 2025 announced that Okeke Chinedu from Anambra State emerged the top scorer of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination with 375 score.
Ayuba Simon-Peter from Gombe State came second with 374 and picked Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) to also study Mechanical Engineering.
Jimoh Abdulmalik with 373; Roberts Damiete with 373; Ononugbo Chigozirim, 373; Olawepo Gertrude with 373; Afinotan Leslie, 373; Azoyenime Samuel, 373, and Oyebode Oluwapelumi with 373, were all joint third.
JAMB also fixed 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2025 academic session.
The new benchmark represents an increase from last year’s cut-off mark of 140.
For other institutions, the approved cut-off marks are as follows: Polytechnics – 100, Colleges of Education – 100, Schools of Nursing – 140, and Colleges of Agriculture – 100.
The Registrar stressed that institutions are not permitted to admit candidates below these minimum thresholds.
Recall that that the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced during the 2025 Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board held in Abuja that 16 years is the minimum age for admission into Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
