Jonathan, Gowon, Obasanjo to attend national assembly chapel inauguration on March 1

Former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo are among dignitaries expected at the inauguration of the Christian chapel at the national assembly on March 1.
Other prominent Nigerians expected at the unveiling of the 750-seat capacity worship centre by the Christian Legislators Fellowship of the national assembly include Remi Tinubu, the first lady, Yakubu Gowon, former head of state; Daniel Okoh, president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN); Francis Oke, president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN); and Matthew Kukah, Catholic bishop of Sokoto diocese, among others.
In a statement jointly issued on Tuesday, Binus Yaroe, senator representing Adamawa south, and Bamidele Salam, lawmaker representing Ede north/Ede south/Egbedore/Ejigbo federal constituency — president and secretary of the fellowship, respectively — said the chapel will deepen spiritual fellowship among Christian legislators and national assembly staff.
The lawmakers said the event will bring together prominent Christian leaders, policymakers, and dignitaries in a “moment of thanksgiving and spiritual reflection”.
The non-denominational chapel project was initiated in May 2019 during the tenure of Yakubu Dogara as speaker of the house of representatives.
