The Kano State Government has asked civil servants in the State to validate their salaries for the month of March before payment to avoid discrepancies.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Faruk, disclosed in his office on Monday.

He said the measure was necessary following workers’ complaints of discrepancies including deductions in their January and February salaries.

He said the workers had been instructed through their various Ministries, Departments and Agencies to endeavour to verify the salaries put on their names and report any observed discrepancy for prompt and necessary action.

“The workers’ salary lists will be pasted at strategic places on the premises of the MDAs and the secretariats of the 44 local governments in the state to facilitate the process.

“Any civil servant who has complaints should go to his/ her ministry, department or agency to verify the salary put on his or her name and report any discrepancy noticed for immediate action,” he said.

According to him, a committee had been set up to conduct the exercise aimed at addressing the reported discrepancies in the workers’ salaries.

He said the committee which is headed by the Head of Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, had been charged to fast-track the exercise to enable the government to pay March salaries as and when due.

He said the government is not unaware of the approaching Eid-el-Fitr festival and the importance of paying the March salaries before the celebration.
