Lagos commissioner visits state correctional centres, commends staff
The Commissioner in the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende has, embarked on a familiarisation visit to correctional centres under the ministry
The commissioner, along with, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry Mrs Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, visited the Correctional Centre for Senior Boys, Isheri, and Rehabilitation and Vocational Training Centre in Isheri and Special Correctional Centre for Boys, Oregun.
At both centres, Ogunlende appreciated the staff members for their dedication and commitment to their duties which he described as “thankless service to humanity.’
The commissioner added, “This visit will help me to acquire deep and practical understanding that will ultimately guide me in making policies, mapping strategies as well as fostering collaborative initiatives in the process of discharging my duties.”
Oke-Osanyintolu, urged the staff at the centres to put in their best in order to justify the resources the state government was expending on the inmates.
A statement added that the ministry “oversees 15 homes and institutions which are spread across the three senatorial districts of the state.”
