Lagos lawmakers again drop two commissioner nominees

The Lagos State of Assembly again dropped two nominees of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, including the former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning in the state, Mr Samuel Egube.

Recall that Egube was in the list of 39-member cabinet list submitted to the House for screening by the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He was among the 17 nominees that failed to secure clearance of the lawmakers.

However, after a peace meeting brokered by the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Egube was re-nominated by the Governor along with his counterparts in the Ministry of Health, Professor Akin Abayomi; and Ministry of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.

But while both Omotoso and Abayomi scaled through the second screening by the lawmakers, Egube was dropped again.

Also dropped was Mr Olalere Odusote while the nomination of Tolani Sule Akibu was undecided.

Those cleared are Dr Tajudeen Abiodun Afolabi, Mrs Barakat Akande-Bakare, Dr Iyabode Oyeyemi Ayoola, Hon Sola Shakirudeen Giwa, Dr Yekini Nurudeen Agbaje and Mrs Bolaji Cecilia Dada.
