Lagos shuts YABATECH facility for discharging sewage into environment

The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office, (LSWMO) has sealed off the Sewage/Wastewater Treatment facility of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), for illegally discharging raw sewage into the environment.

The government said the action followed  several letters of warning to the institution which were allegedly ignored by management.

“The Lagos State Government frowns at every act of illegal discharge of wastewater which is a contravention of the provisions of the Environmental Management and Protection Laws 2017 and it is inimical to public health and environmental sustainability,” the statement added.
