Lagos won’t allow harassment, extortion from law enforcers – Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has called for professionalism and civility on the part of law enforcement officers in the state, saying harassment in enforcing the law will not be tolerated.
Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat at the Year 2022 passing out parade of enforcement officers from the Lagos State Law Enforcement Training Institute, added that his administration was committed to upholding the tenets of the rule of law and will not condone any form of harassment, arbitrariness, extortion from any of its law enforcement officers.
The governor noted that officers were expected to be guided by the knowledge and experience that they have gained from the training which spanned a period of three months.
He said, “This passing out parade demonstrates his administration’s commitment to upgrading the capacity of the officers who are daily confronted with diverse issues and challenges in the course of carrying out their lawful duties, especially in the areas of traffic management, maintaining discipline, ensuring safety and security in different communities of the state.”
Earlier, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN, who was represented by the Director of Advisory Services, Ministry of Justice, Mr Saheed Quadri, urged the officers to show allegiance to what is right and conform to a standard of conduct that shows their true worth.
