Legendary Nigerian goalkeeper Peter Rufai is dead

Nigerian soccer legend and former foremost Nigeria Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, is dead.

Dodomayana, as he is fondly called, died t the age of 61.

Sources said Rufai died on Thursday after a prolonged illness.

His family has yet to comment on the sad development.

Peter Rufai played for Nigeria between 1983 and 1998.

He returned to the country from his base in Europe to start a youth sports development programme.

He had 65 international caps for the Eagles.
