Lion that killed OAU vet shot dead

The nine-year-old lion that killed a veterinary technologist with Obafemi Awolowo University, Olawuyi Olarewaju, has been shot dead.

In a trending video, two men with guns approached the enclosure of the lion and one of them fired a shot that hit the lion. The lions fell down dead.

Olarewaju’s corpse was still in the lion’s den when it was shot dead.

The late OAU worker had been in charge of the OAU Zoological Garden for over a decade, before he was attacked by the nine-year-old male lion on Monday.

He attacked while feeding the lion at the zoological garden of the university.

Biodun Olarewaju, the school’s Public Relations Officer, said the management of the university had been thrown into mourning following the incident.

He confirmed that the rouge lion had been euthanized.
