Many feared dead in Oyo clash between herdsmen OPC, Amotekun, others
Many persons are feared dead in a clash between the Oodua Peoples Congress, Amotekun, Operation Burst, Soludero and a group of herdsmen in Iwerele, Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The cause of the Monday conflict was still sketchy as of press time.
However, a high chief in the community confirmed the clash.
The source said a group of herdsmen had invaded a farm in the community with their cattle and which grazed on it.
During an argument, the owner of the farm was said to have been killed.
Our correspondent further gathered that combined security operatives of Operation Burst, OPC, Amotekun and Soludero were sent to restore peace in the area but they were allegedly ambushed by herdsmen. The number of those killed has yet to be ascertained.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached as his phone rang out. Text messages sent to his mobile number were not replied to.
