Liverpool have announced that Mohamed Salah will leave the club at the end of the season.

The English Premier League (EPL) club announced the 33-year-old’s impending exit on its website on Tuesday,

The Egyptian winger will leave the club after nine years since joining the club from Roma in 2017.

Salah has endured a poor season by his lofty standards, starting only 19 of 31 league matches, and endured a goal drought that lasted 122 days and nine EPL matches, prompting rumours of a likely end to his Liverpool career.

According to the statement, the club revealed that the player, whose contract runs until June 2027, has reached an agreement for an early termination. The player also made his exit public early for transparency and respect for Liverpool supporters.

“Mohamed Salah is to bring the curtain down on his illustrious career with Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025-26 season,” the statement reads.

“The forward has reached an agreement with the Reds that will see him close a remarkable nine-year chapter at Anfield.

“Salah expressed his wish to make this announcement to the supporters at the earliest possible opportunity to provide transparency about his future due to his respect and gratitude for them.”

In a video on his social media pages, Salah expressed gratitude to the club, his teammates, and fans throughout his stay at Anfield.

Liverpool brought Salah from Roma for £34.3 million and has won nine trophies with the club, including two EPL titles and the UEFA Champions League.

He also accumulated over 60 individual awards in his Liverpool career. He won the Premier League Golden Boot on four occasions and sits third on the Liverpool all-time leading goalscorers chart.
