Monthly environmental sanitation returns to Lagos April 25

The Lagos State Government has announced the return of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, nearly a decade after it was suspended.
The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed that the exercise will resume on April 25, 2026, and will be held on the last Saturday of every month between 6.30am and 8.30am.
Wahab said residents are expected to clean their surroundings, clear drainage channels in front of their homes, and properly dispose waste during the exercise.
The commissioner said the government decided to reintroduce the practice following increasing waste management and environmental challenges across the state.
He urged Lagosians to cooperate with authorities and dedicate a few hours each month to keeping the environment clean, stressing that the government would ensure strict enforcement of the sanitation exercise.
