The Atlas Lions of Morocco have defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria on penalties to reach the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Both teams failed to score in over 120 minutes in the bubbling cauldron of Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat and had to be separated by a nervy penalty shootout.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles lost the penalty shootout to host nation Morocco after a tense 0–0 draw at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

The semi-final was an evenly contested affair across 120 minutes, with Morocco dominating much of the attacking play, registering most shots on target.

Both sides created chances, but goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali for Nigeria and Yassine Bounou for Morocco kept their teams in the game with key saves.

Nigeria’s hopes were dashed when Chukwueze and Bruno failed to convert, giving Morocco a 4–2 shootout victory.
