NAFDAC raises the alarm on fake Cowbell milk in Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raised the alarm on the circulation of counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachets in Nigeria
According to the alert on the agency’s website on Friday, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, the manufacturer and marketing authorization holder of Cowbell “Our Milk,” reported the existence of fake products closely resembling the genuine 12g sachets.
“This includes unauthorised use of the brand name, packaging design, NAFDAC registration number, and trademark. These products are neither manufactured nor distributed by us, as the counterfeit packaging design was last used in September 2023,” NAFDAC reported the company as saying.
The agency outlined how to distinguish the genuine product from the fake: “The authentic Cowbell milk is creamy, features the updated PNG artwork “Our Creamy Goodness,” uses laser-printed batch details in the designated coding area, and has automated sealing and cutting on the vertical sides.
“In contrast, counterfeit sachets use the old PNG artwork “Our Milk,” have batch details printed with ink rather than laser, coding in the wrong area, and manually sealed and cut sides. The content of the fake product also does not resemble real milk.”
