The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has said the process of replacing old N1,000, N500 and N200 notes with re-designed ones has been stressful for his people.

He said no fewer than 24 council areas of the state have no commercial banks.

Ganduje spoke with reporters in Daura, Katsina State when he led a delegation of Kano stakeholders to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Kano government is preparing to host President Buhari on a state visit, during which he would unveil projects executed by the Ganduje-led administration.

But, on Saturday, news broke that the State had advised President Buhari to shelve the planned visit, citing the apprehension arising from the scarcity of new naira notes, and fears that the situation might breed insecurity.

After he met with the president, Ganduje told reporters that the coast was now clear for the President’s visit.

“We are ready to receive him and we have a lot for him to commission, including the federal government and state government projects. They are state-of-the-art projects,” the governor said.
