Nigerians would soon forget current pains – Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu, yesterday, promised that Nigerians would soon forget their pains as he is working with his team to give the best of economy and opportunity to the country.
Tinubu spoke at the Lagos State House in Marina, when he was hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The president described the current challenges and hardships in the country as a good example of labour pain which is necessary to birth joy and happiness.
“We recognise the hardship that people are going through; it’s a very good example of labour pain when mothers go through very excruciating pains. But they soon forget this when they hear the noise of the baby and they cherish the smile forever. That is what Nigeria will be, I assure you. We will work hard to give you the best economy and opportunities you can imagine,” he said.
The president however described the job as ‘monumental’, saying it’s not a one-man job, but a collective effort. He urged state and local governments to join him by focusing on agriculture and education to fight poverty and terrorism.
He said Nigeria is in good hands and the results of some of the reforms embarked upon by the government would soon be obvious.
In response to requests from attendees at the event, especially the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, President Tinubu promised that traditional institutions would not be ignored.
He also praised Governor Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasanjo, for holding forth strongly and committing themselves to the values of the state.
