NIJ matriculates 304, promises to satisfy students’ academic, professional interests

The Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos State, has restated its commitment to training and grooming disciplined and excellent professionals to uphold the highest ethical standards in mass communication.
The school Provost, Gbenga Adefaye, stated this at the 22nd matriculation of the institute, urging the matriculating students to be diligent.
Three hundred and four students were matriculated into various programmes; 127 for National Diploma, 82 for Higher National Diploma and 95 for Post Graduate Diploma.
Adefaye noted that the school was equipped to serve their interest and curiosity academically and professionally.
He added, “At the NIJ, we equip you to go into the world as full professionals cum content producers in our new age of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
”Some of the events and programmes to look forward to during your study here include but are not limited to; field trips to media houses advertising agencies and public relation firms, Students Industrial Works Experience (SIWES) for National Diploma students, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations competition which is open to all., students’ week which is open to all and Sports-inter-college competition (the Lagos Tertiary Games Competition) with Entrepreneurship workshops and exhibitions.
”There is also practical training for those in print with plans to expand the scope and real-time broadcasting via online radio is a work in progress.
”We promise you the best time here; even as we appeal that students handle the facilities in the various laboratories with care as if they are family treasures.
”We hope that you will all work hard to justify your admission and that you come out with good grades to be competent and competitive in the marketplace upon graduation.”
