NUC accredits 11 more courses for Ajayi Crowther varsity
The National Universities Commission has accredited 11 more programmes for Ajayi Crowther University, spanning seven faculties.
In a letter dated June 6, 2024, NUC stated that the programmes were accredited in line with Section 10 (l) of the Education (National Minimum Standard and Establishment of Institution) Act, CAP E3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 20024, which empowers the NUC to lay down minimum academic standards for all academic programmes taught in Nigerian universities and to accredit programmes.
According to NUC, the new programmes granted full accreditation for ACU are Business Administration; Entrepreneurship; Agriculture; Medical Laboratory Sciences; Mass Communication; Computer Engineering; Electrical Electronics Engineering; Survey and Geo-informatics; Economics; and Peace, Strategic and Conflict Resolution.
NUC also granted interim accreditation for Radiography and Radiation Science.
Announcing the NUC approval, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Timothy Adebayo, said approval of the additional courses for ACU reflects its unwavering commitment to providing high-quality education and maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence.
He added that the feat also signifies hard work, dedication and expertise of the university faculty staff and students.
He said, “It is with immense pleasure that I announce the recent accreditation of additional courses by the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC). This significant achievement signifies the University’s unwavering commitment to providing high-quality education and maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence.
“The accreditation process is a rigorous exercise, involving thorough evaluations and assessments by the NUC. The fact that our courses have met and exceeded these standards is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and expertise of our faculty, staff, and students.
“This milestone is not just a victory for our university, but also for our students and the wider community. Accredited courses ensure that our students receive education that is recognised and respected both nationally and internationally. It opens doors for further academic pursuits and enhances their employment prospects in an increasingly competitive global market.”
Earlier in September 2023, the Executive Secretary of the NUC had written a letter to the University management, notifying it of approval of accreditation exercise, scheduled to take place between October and December.
Consequently, accreditation teams from various departments of NUC visited the university to access the institution’s readiness and compliance with NUC regulation for accreditation of academic programmes.
