Oborevwori laments train accident that killed four, injured 35 others

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has expressed sadness over the train accident in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, which claimed four lives and left several passengers injured.

The governor described the incident as heart-breaking, saying the loss of lives was painful for the affected families and the state.

In a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Oborevwori, Oborevwori assured residents that the state government had taken immediate steps to assist victims and coordinate emergency response efforts.

According to the statement, the governor directed the Commissioner for Special Duties, as well as the chairmen of Ika South and Ika North-East Local Government Areas, to move to the scene and oversee rescue operation and treatment.

Providing an update on the victims, the Chairman of Ika North-East Local Government Area, Monday Odigwe, said 35 injured passengers were receiving treatment in three hospitals.

According to him, 13 victims were admitted at Central Hospital, Agbor, while 12 others were receiving treatment at General Hospital, Owa-Oyibu. Another 10 victims were being treated at General Hospital, Owa-Alero.

Odigwe also disclosed that arrangements were being made to lift the affected train from the scene on Tuesday.
