The Ogun State Government has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Oluwanisola cattle market, Kara Isheri, in the Ifo Local Government Area, to come up with amicable resolution to issues of poor environmental condition of the market and revenue remittance to government’s coffers.

A statement said the Commissioner for Agriculture, Bolu Owotomo, gave the directive at a meeting in his office with the leaders of the market, led by Seriki Hausa Community, Alhaji Mohammed Badamosi.

The commissioner warned that if necessary steps were not taken soon, drastic steps would be taken by the state government.

Owotomo said the unwholesome attitude of the traders on revenue remittance would no longer be tolerated, adding that environmental issues in the market should be taken seriously to avoid environmental hazards.

Owotomo said, “The government is not happy with the revenue being remitted to government’s coffers and the poor environmental condition of the market. So, you have to come up with an amicable resolution on these two major issues”.

He implored traders to cooperate with the government in its resolve to ensure adequate welfare and wellbeing of the people of the state irrespective of their tribes or religions, assuring them that the present administration was poised to deliver dividends of democracy to all and sundry.

The General Secretary of the market, Prince Babalola Akeweje, appreciated the commissioner for the meeting, promising that necessary action would be taken on the issue raised.
