Oshoala’s bicycle-kick goal wins Women’s UCL best goal award
Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala has won the best goal for the UEFA Women’s Champions League 2023/24 season.
The bicycle-kick goal by Nigeria’s Super Falcons striker for her former club Barcelona Femení was selected by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) as the Women’s Champions League goal of the season.
Oshoala netted the stunning bicycle kick in Barcelona’s 5-0 win over Benfica in their opening group game en route to the Catalans claiming the Champions League for the second consecutive season.
Oshoala’s goal was the fifth for the Spanish team in their 5-0 victory over Benfica, which helped Barcelona clinch the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
In their announcement post on social media, UEFA wrote, “The top ten goals of the 2023/24 UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign have been selected by UEFA’s Technical Observer panel, with Nigerian forward Asisat Oshoala taking the prize for Goal of the Season thanks to her stunning bicycle kick for Barcelona against Benfica on Matchday 1″.
Nevertheless, the six-time winning and reigning African Women’s Footballer of the Year did not complete the season with them, as she relocated to the US to play with Bay FC.
