PASAN shut Kano Assembly to force implementation of Financial Autonomy
The Kano State chapter, of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria has shut down the State House Assembly following the commencement of the nationwide indefinite strike.
Recall that the association had last week directed its members nationwide to shut down the National Assembly and all the 36 State Houses of Assembly indefinitely from Monday.
The Chairman of PASAN, Kano State chapter, Malam Bashir Yahaya, confirmed the closure of the Assembly on Monday.
“Yes, we have joined the strike as directed by the national president of our association.
“The strike followed the expiration of an ultimatum the union gave to the government to implement financial autonomy for the legislature,” he said.
He explained that the strike “is over the failure of the state government to implement financial autonomy for its legislative arm.”
According to him, the strike followed the expiration of an ultimatum the union gave to governments to implement financial autonomy for the legislature.
“The union was patient for two years after President Muhammadu Buhari signed the financial autonomy Act, but state governors have failed to implement it,” he said.
He said the association would continue the strike until their demands were met.
