The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council has announced the cancellation of the rally of its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The PUNCH reports that the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, was expected in Port Harcourt, the state capital, this week for his campaign rally ahead of the 2023 general elections.

But the party announced on Monday that the mega rally would no longer hold in the state as earlier scheduled.

“The presidential campaign planned for early this week would no longer hold,” the PDP PCC Chairman in Rivers State, Senator Lee Maeba disclosed, citing insecurity.

Senator Maeba added, “The expected victory of Atiku Abubakar does not worth the blood of any Rivers man or woman.”

Recall that the state Governor, Nyesome Wike, had been showing his resentment at the way Atiku emerged as the presidential flagbearer of the party.
