The Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday suspended a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; a former president of the Senate, Pius Anyim; Prof Dennis Ityavyar and Aslam Aliyu.

The suspension, which takes effect on Thursday, was arrived at after an extensive review of the affairs of the party.

The PDP also referred the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, to the National Disciplinary Committee over his reported involvement in anti-party activities.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

“The PDP urges all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our party across the country to remain united and focused at this critical time,” the statement added.

Fayose’s suspension comes days after he mocked the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, for losing the state to the All Progressives Congress in the March 18 governorship election.

He had also said anyone planning to “unseat” President-elect, Bola Tinubu through the court is “daydreaming”.

Anyim had declared his support for Francis Nwifuru, APC governor-elect in Ebonyi, days before the governorship poll in the state.
