PDP withdraws from LG poll on Ondo
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its withdrawal from January 18 Local Government election in Ondo State.
Acting Chairman of the party in the state, Bakita Bello, stated this on Thursday.
He said the PDP has sent a letter to the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, informing it of the intention of the party to withdraw from the election.
He said, “We are not participating in the Local Government Election and we have so informed ODIEC in writing ”
The PDP’s withdrawal affects all 15 chairmanship candidates and 131 councillorship candidates it had fielded for the election.
The party said its decision stemmed from loss of confidence in the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC).
