Former Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan, former Ghanaian president, John Mahama, have led delegates from the West African Elders Forum on a visit to the top four presidential candidates in Nigeria.

The candidates who were visited are Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

Also on the delegation were Boni Yayi, former president of Benin; Fatoumata Tambajang, former vice-president of The Gambia; and Kadre Ouedraogo, former prime minister of Burkina Faso.

In a tweet on his official handle, Jonathan said the delegation visited the presidential candidates to sue for peace amid the collation of results of the general election.

The news of the visit comes amid calls by the PDP, Labour Party, and NNPP seeking a cancellation of the general election over alleged irregularities.
