Police arrest suspected Lakurawa terror group member, recover 10 rustled cows in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command on Tuesday said its men arrested one Salihu Umar, a 42-year-old native of the Dogon Dutse area of Niger Republic.
CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the spokesman for the command said Uman, who was suspected to be member of the Lakurawa bandits, was apprehended at Bachaka cattle market with 10 rustled cows.
Abubakar explained, “On the 31st August, 2025 at about 1730hrs, acting on credible intelligence, one Salihu Umar m aged 42yrs of Dogon Dutse area of Niger Republic, was apprehended at Bachaka cattle market with Ten rustled cows owned by one Usman Aliyu of Zogirma town, Bunza LGA of Kebbi State, whose 68 cows were rustled on the 20th August, 2025, by the suspected Lakurawa bandits and cross over to Niger Republic.”
The Police Public Relations Officer added that the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, had instructed that the case be transferred to the command headquarters, while commending the bravery and intelligence-led policing strategy displayed by the DPO Bachaka and his men.
“The CP equally directed the DPO to transfer the case to the State Criminal investigation Department, Birnin Kebbi, for a discreet investigation to be conducted with a view to intensify more efforts in apprehending the remaining fleeing gang members and recover more rustled cows.
“CP Bello M Sani reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Command in its ongoing onslaught against violent crimes for peace and stability to be maintained in the state.
“The CP also appealed to the peace loving people of Kebbi State to remain vigilant and continue to support the police and other security agencies with accurate and timely information for prompt response,” Abubakar added.
