Police rescue six kidnapped victims in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command says it has rescued six victims of kidnapping unhurt.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar in a statement on Monday explained that on the 2nd of November, 2025, around 600 hours, a gang of unidentified bandits with weapons numbering about 12 invaded Ukuhu, Tungar Wazga and Unguwar Chiroma villages in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, and kidnapped 10 people.

“Following a credible lead, the Divisional Police Officer, Danko, swiftly mobilized a combined team of Policemen and local vigilantes, pursued the hoodlums, blocked them at Marina village bordering Zamfara State and engaged them into a fierce gun duel.

“The aggressive confrontation made the bandits to abandoned some of their victims and fled in to Zamfara forest with possible gunshot injuries.

“While the operation was ongoing, the following victims namely Abubakar B  Abubakar age 25; Nasiru Magawata, age 18; Abdul Magawata, 15years; Buhari Ukuhu age 17yrs; Kamalu Magawata age 12yrs; Naziru Magawata age 11, all make  of the mentioned villages were successfully rescued unhurt and have been reunited with their families after medical examination.

Search and rescue operation has been intensified with a view to rescuing the remaining four kidnapped victims and ensure the possible apprehension of the fleeing culprits.

While commending the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani applauded the DPO Danko and his team for swift response to distress call, professionalism and bravery.

He emphasised that the command remained steadfast in its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property of the people of Kebbi State.
