The exclusion of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo from the presidential campaign council of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) came under scrutiny on Saturday morning.

Social media have been bombarded with mixed reactions from a cross-section of Nigerians, especially on Twitter, hours after the APC made the list public.

Osinbajo, who is among those who sought the presidential ticket of the ruling party, supposedly fell out with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, APC presidential candidate, in the buildup to the primary election.

For some commentators, his exclusion from the 422-man list released by James Faleke, the Presidential Campaign Council Secretary, late Friday, is confirmation that Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate is yet to mend fences with the Vice President.

Others, however, say Osibajo’s exclusion might not be unconnected with his disagreement with the Muslim-Muslim Ticket of the APC.

Reacting to the development on Twitter, Tomide Akinribido, a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, posted: “VP Osinbajo reportedly rejected his inclusion in the campaign team stating that he cannot support a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“The Christian community must stand in solidarity with Osinbajo and reject the disastrous APC muslim-muslim ticket. It takes enormous courage for him to decline participation in the Tinubu campaign council,he must be protected at all cost.”

Similarly, Demola Olarewaju, a popular tweep and Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar on digital media strategy said that it is telling that top APC christian members are missing from the list.

“Top Christians in APC such as Yemi Osinbajo, Babachir Lawal and Yakubu Dogara are prominently missing from the APC campaign list in protest of the mono-religious ticket the party is attempting for 2023. That’s the major takeaway from that list, if Nigeria’s future is the focus,” he quipped.

Meanwhile, @Moris_Monye is predicting the Vice President to shock everyone by forming an alliance with Peter Obi of the Labour Party.

“I predict Osinbajo joining Peter Obi in one of the most unusual circumstances ever.”

Another Tweep, @ManLikeIcey stated, “Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo missing from the APC Presidential campaign list.

“He was offered a substantial position in the campaign council but he rejected. Like he said few months ago. “You can’t wish the country well and vote for someone you don’t believe in.”
