Rivers APC, PDP leaders attend Wike’s rally

Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), attended a political rally in Oyigbo LGA of Rivers on Monday alongside leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
The minister, flanked by Tony Okocha, chairman of Rivers APC and Aaron Chukwuemeka, PDP chairman in Rivers, cautioned “intruders of Rivers politics” over statements about the state’s support for President Bola Tinubu.
“This is the chairman of APC; this is the chairman of PDP. Any state that can do it, tell him to come out,” the minister boasted, pointing at the two men.
Earlier, Rejoice Otobo, chairman of APC in Ahoada west LGA of Rivers, said the party would comply with Wike’s directive on the 2027 elections.
Ikechukwu Obuzor, PDP chairman in the LGA, also pledged loyalty to the FCT minister.
“I want to say that we are standing firm with you. Wherever you go, we will go. Be assured that come 2027, Ahoada west will deliver the needed results for you,” he said.
Speaking at the rally in Oyigbo LGA, Wike said the state fully supports President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also warned Ajibola Basiru, national secretary of the APC, to steer clear of Rivers politics.
“Don’t take our support for President Tinubu for granted. Be careful with your statements about Rivers state. When Mr. President returns, I will ensure the minister of blue economy is told what has really happened here. Anyone who dares intervene in Rivers’ politics will regret it,” Wike said.
