Mrs Ronke Soyombo, a seasoned educationist and former Special Adviser to governor Dapo Abiodun, has resumes as the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Teacher Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

She replaced Prof. Segun Ajiboye, who was reappointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2021 for a second five-year term, and was due to remain in office until September 2026.

Until her appointment, Soyombo served as the Senior Special Adviser on Education, Science, and Technology to Governor Dapo Abiodun.

She previously held the position of Acting Commissioner for Education in Ogun State, during which she simultaneously oversaw the Teaching Service Commission and the Universal Basic Education Board.

She was also the Director General at the Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance from where she went to Ogun State.

Soyombo brings to the TRCN over 30 years of professional experience in the education sector, spanning both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

She holds a degree in Chemistry Education from the University of Lagos, a law degree from London Guildhall University, and earned a Microsoft certification in 1997.

Her new role will see her lead the federal agency responsible for regulating the teaching profession across Nigeria for a five-year tenure.
