Students and teachers of Yemco Nursery, Primary and Comprehensive College in the Ogba, Lagos, narrowly escaped death on Monday.

This was after a four-storey building housing the school collapsed moments after the occupants were evacuated.

The building reportedly caved in around noon, less than three minutes after students and staff were hurriedly moved out of the structure.

The collapsed building is located at 11 Adudatu Street, behind County Hospital, in the Aguda area of Ogba.

Although the cause of the collapse had yet to be officially confirmed as of the time of filing this report, the timely evacuation of the students and staff prevented what could have been a major tragedy.

Emergency responders and residents were seen at the scene ensuring that no one was trapped under the rubble.
