Security officials surround Lagos Assembly, prevents lawmakers from holding plenary

The Monday plenary at the Lagos State House of Assembly could not hold as security officials took over the assembly complex.

Now fewer than 10 vans belonging to different agencies were stationed at the assembly gate.

Confused lawmakers gathered outside the assembly chamber, while some later left.

It was gathered that the Department of State Services officials had sealed the office of Speaker Mojisola Meranda.

Onlookers stood a good distance from the gate of the House, safely observing the situation as security personnel guard the area.

Recall that the former speaker, Mudashiru Obasa had said his removal did not follow due process, and had challenged it in court.
