Senate confirms Cardoso as Central Bank of Nigeria Governor
The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Dr. Olayemi Cardoso as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria’
The upper chamber also confirmed four Deputy Governors along with Cardoso.
Recall that President Tinubu nominated Cardoso to replace the former Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
The Deputy Governors nominated by Tinubu and confirmed by the Senate are Emem Nnana Usoro, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor and Dr. Bala M. Bello.
They were screened and confirmed on Tuesday.
President Bola Tinubu on September 15 approved the nomination of Cardoso as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria for a term of five years at the first instance, pending his confirmation by the Senate.
Cardoso who is a banker, chartered stockbroker, and public policy expert, has served for over four decades in the public, private, and development sectors as a leader and innovator.
