Six JSS students drown in Kaduna river while coming back from exam hall

Six students of the Government Secondary School, Fadan Chawai, taking the Junior WAEC drowned on Tuesday in the Mbang River in Kaduna State while coming back from sitting the papers of the day.
The sad incident happened around 5.30pm in Ribang (Mbang) village in the Kauru Local Government Area of the state.
The victims were identified as Manasseh Monday (16 years), Musa John (16), Pius David (15), Monday Ayuba (16), David Danlami (19), and Yahuza Audu (16).
The National Public Relations Officer of Ribang Development Association, Pastor Simon Ishaku on Wednesday said three dead bodies had been recovered and buried.
He explained that, as of now, there are still three missing as locals have not been able to recover them out of the river.
“The Mbang River is a death trap. Before anybody can access any school or hospital. We usually travel for about eight kilometres.
“We’re calling on the Federal Government, Governor Uba Sani, Sen. Sunday Katung and our House of Representative member as a matter of urgency, to kindly assist us with school, hospital, access road and bridge in order to bring succour to our community,” Simon said.
