Super Falcons goalkeeper, coach get nominations for 2025 Ballon d’or awards

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have earned more global recognition as the team’s goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and head coach Justin Madugu have both been nominated for prestigious the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.
Nnadozie, who was a standout performer in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), has been shortlisted for the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.
The team coach Madugu got a nomination for Women’s Coach of the Year.
Their nominations follow Nigeria’s historic 10th WAFCON title run, secured in Morocco after a superlative displays in the tournament.
Nnadozie produced a series of heroic displays in goal, making crucial saves and asserting her presence to help steer the Super Falcons to victory.
Madugu, who took over as the coach of the Super Falcons in late 2023, has been praised for revitalizing the team and instilling a disciplined, and attacking style of play.
In Casablanca and Rabat just last month, the Falcons overcame strong competition from host nation Morocco and defending champions South Africa to lift the trophy.
Meanwhile, Spain’s Aitana Bonmatí has been tipped as the front-runner for the Women’s Ballon d’Or, aiming for her third consecutive win.
