Tinubu commends Wike for APC electoral victories

President Bola Tinubu has applauded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
He said he was convinced that Wike’s performance in the nation’s capital translated into electoral gains for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday conducted elections across the six area councils of the FCT.
By-elections were also held in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, as well as in Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.
The APC recorded significant victories, securing most of the contested positions.
In a statement on Sunday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President congratulated the successful candidates.
He also praised INEC, security agencies and other stakeholders for their roles in ensuring a smooth and credible electoral process.
Tinubu urged those elected to govern with “humility, patriotism, and dedication and to view the mandate given to them by the people as a sacred trust.”
Despite Wike’s membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, the President singled him out for commendation, noting that his accomplishments in the FCT had strengthened the APC’s fortunes at the polls.
Onanuga wrote, “President Tinubu commends the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his remarkable achievements in the territory, which have yielded political dividends to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The President congratulates the APC national leadership, Kano and Rivers leaderships, and all members of the party on the victories at the polls.
“President Tinubu lauds the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and voters for the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections.
“He further commends the courage and discipline displayed by all the contestants, stating that democracy is enriched with the vibrancy of participation and competition.”
Describing the elections as a boost to Nigeria’s democratic development, the President affirmed that the exercise reinforces democratic institutions and culture. He also called on “INEC to continue improving its efforts to deliver even more exemplary electoral processes.”
