President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after a two-week diplomatic tour of Japan and Brazil where he participated in high-level engagements aimed at deepening Nigeria’s global partnerships.

Tinubu first attended the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Japan before embarking on a state visit to Brazil.

His engagements focused on trade, investment, energy cooperation, agriculture, security, and technology.

The President’s aircraft touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 1.30am on Thursday. He was received by senior government officials.

During his state visit to Brazil, Nigeria and Brazil signed five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) spanning aviation, agriculture, energy, foreign affairs, and science and technology.

According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the agreements underscore Nigeria’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in key development sectors.

In Brasília, President Tinubu was accorded full military honours at the Palácio do Planalto before holding bilateral talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Both leaders witnessed the signing of the MoUs by senior officials from both nations.

At his departure from Brazil, Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte, Secretary for Africa and the Middle East, and Carlos José Areias Moreno Garcete, Ambassador of Brazil to Nigeria, were at the airport to bid farewell to the Nigerian leader.

The visit also saw the participation of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, alongside other key officials.
