Tinubu sends three ambassadorial nominees to Senate

Senate
Ebun Emmanuel—November 26, 2025
President Tinubu has nominated non-career ambassadors for three countries.
The countries are the United States, the United Kingdom, and France.
The postings will be finalised following Senate screening.
The three nominees are Ambassador Ayodele Oke, Retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are (Ogun), and Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu (Jigawa).
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the submission during Wednesday’s plenary, noting, “The list contains three names for now, I am sure others will follow.”
The President’s action ended a two-year delay in filling these key diplomatic positions.
Since assuming office, President Tinubu has not appointed any ambassadors, a situation critics have described as embarrassing for Nigeria on the international stage.
