Tinubu visits Nigerian troops in Katsina State without military entourage

President Bola Tinubu at the 65th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja on Sunday, July 7th, 2024.
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday made an unannounced visit to Nigerian troops on the frontline of Operation FANSAR YAMMA in Katsina State – without the usual high-ranking military entourage.
The rare visit was aimed at obtaining first-hand assessment of ongoing security operations and boosting the morale of soldiers engaged in combat against terrorism and banditry in the region.
Speaking directly to the troops, Tinubu praised their patriotism and sacrifice, calling their mission “a battle for the soul of Nigeria.”
“Nigeria depends on you, and I am with you today, tomorrow, and always. Stay strong. Stay focused,” he told the assembled soldiers.
He emphasized his administration’s commitment to troop welfare, pledging prompt payment of allowances, advanced weaponry, improved healthcare, insurance coverage, and family support systems.
“Your welfare is my top priority. We are not only equipping you to defend Nigeria—we are determined to ensure your dignity is upheld, your families are supported, and your future is secure,” Tinubu said.
The President commended the resilience of the military in protecting citizens at great personal cost, describing their service as the highest form of patriotism.
