Fire has destroyed goods worth millions of naira in the Alaba Rago market, Ojo LGA of Lagos.
Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, permanent secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), said the cause of the fire, which began early Wednesday, has not been ascertained.
He added that there were neither fatalities nor injuries from the incident.
“Following distress calls received via the CRM on 767/112 Toll-Free Emergency numbers at 2223hrs, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans and deployed its Emergency Response Team from Igando,” he said.
“Upon arrival of the Agency’s Dolphin Response Team at the incident scene, it was discovered that some shanty shops were engulfed in fire.
“Further investigations at the incident scene had not yet ascertained the cause of fire as at the time of reporting.
“No casualty was recorded. No injuries were sustained due to the incident.”
