Truck runs into three vehicles, LASTMA rescues three Lagosians
No fewer than three persons were injured in an accident on Tuesday at Anthony Service Lane inward Town Planning Way, Lagos
It was gathered that a Volvo six-tyre truck (T-17138LA) on a high speed lost control as a result of brake failure and rammed into a Nissan Car (LSD 497 EY) and two Volkswagen commercial buses (EKY 129 XT / KSF 815 XS).
The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Mr Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed that three people were rescued, adding that they were passengers inside one of the buses involved in the accident.
He said, “While the truck driver ran away after the accident, policemen from Mosafejo Police Station provided security backup during the rescue operation by LASTMA officials.
“LASTMA Bakare Sulaiman Akanbi (Head, Zone 11 Anthony) who led the recovery operations confirmed that his team immediately evacuated the Volvo Truck and three other vehicles off the road for an unhindered free vehicular movement inward Town Planning.”
The General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, warned truck owners/drivers to ensure their trucks are properly checked before embarking on any journey within or outside Lagos.
