The Ondo Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps on Sunday disclosed that 30 people lost their lives in a road accident on the Benin-Ore-Ijebu Ode Expressway at Onipetesi community in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Saturday evening.

The victims were reportedly burnt to death when then two buses carrying them collided head-on and burst into flames.

The Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Samuel Ibitoye, explained that  preliminary investigations revealed that one of the vehicles involved in the accident was driving against traffic.

He said, “Thirty people lost their lives in the accident. Twenty-eight persons were burnt beyond recognition, while two died on their way to the hospital.”
