Police operatives have arrested two men for stealing a Sallah ram in the Ogijo area of Ogun State.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Thursday said the suspects were arrested following a report lodged at Ogijo divisional headquarters.
The suspects were said to have broken into a pen housing the ram, pulled down the steel gate and took the animal away around 3am on Tuesday.
Police spokesman said the animal belonged to Sodiq Abolore, who raised an alarm after discovering that the ram he bought for N120,000 was missing.
“The suspect reported that while he was sleeping in his house at about 3 am, he heard an unusual noise in his compound which made him peep through the window, only to discover that the iron gate he used to block the entrance where he kept his Sallah ram has been pulled down.
“This made him come out and discovered that his Salah ram which he bought at the rate of #120,000 is no longer there,” Oyeyemi said.
Of the three initial suspects that were chased, the police spokesman stated that two were apprehended, while the other one escaped.
The ram, he added, was recovered and the two suspects were taken to custody.
