UBA’s Nasir, Coker shine at Industry Summit in Lagos for outstanding performances

Two members of the United Bank for Africa, UBA’s media team have won awards at the 6th edition of the Industry Summit 2025 organized by The Industry Newspaper, a leading brand marketing publication.
The head of the UBA media team, Ramon Nasir Olanrewaju, and communication specialist in the team, Abiodun Coker were decorated for hard work at the event.
Nasir who is Head, Media and External Relations, got award for Leadership in Media Relationship Management for his exceptional achievement and outstanding contributions to the field of media relationship management in Nigeria in 2024.
Also, Coker, the Media & External Relations Lead, was honored with the “Future Leader in Media Management” at the same event.
The prestigious event, held on Friday at CIBN House and the Civic Centre, both in Victoria Island, Lagos, recognized outstanding professionals shaping the future of brand marketing and communications across the region.
The award jury, was chaired by Mr. Tolulope Ogunjobi, renowned broadcast business correspondent and Business Editor at TVC News.
The jury recognized Coker’s exceptional achievements in the public relations field during the year 2024. It noted his masterful handling of UBA’s 2024 Rights Issue, which successfully closed on December 24, 2024, and the impactful execution of the bank’s 75th Anniversary Campaign, both of which were described as commendable and exceptional.
A seasoned professional, Coker’s journey from an acclaimed financial journalist at BusinessDay Newspapers to a powerhouse in corporate communications has been nothing short of inspiring.
With over eight years of robust journalism experience, as well as leadership roles at top-tier public relations firms such as BD Consult Ltd and Quadrant, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to transform and manage leading brands successfully.
According to the jury, Coker’s management of UBA’s media ecosystem during the year under review was remarkable, with several media professionals praising his public relations craftsmanship and ability to skilfully manage the image of one of Africa’s most formidable financial brands.

Nasir, a First-Class degree holder
in International Relations and Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the Obafemi Awolowo University, as well as Master’s degree in Media/Marketing, and Communication from Pan Atlantic University, was described as a man with media relations skill that is second to none in the banking industry.
